This tour of Greece visits Athens with a panoramic city tour including the most important monuments and landmarks of the city. Including the Parthenon and Acropolis, including the Propylaea. You will also venture into the countryside of Delphi and Kalambaka and the slopes of Mount Paranassos overlooking vast olive groves and the Corinthian Gulf. Delpi used to be the most sacred spot in the world and a pilgrimage centre for many centuries in antiquity.

Visit the Corinth canal and Epidaurus for the best preserved ancient theatre. Pass by Beautiful Nafplio and visit Mycenae “Rich in gold” as Homer described. We visit the Olympia complex, home to the original olympic games and the Temple of Zeus. Continue to the UNESCO World Heritage site  of Meteora, visiting stunning rock formations. Finihs your tour with a day trip island hopping around the Saronic gulf, visit ‘vehicle free’ Hydra, hike to the clock tower on Poros and buy delicious local pistachios o Aegina.  Back to Athens to relax for another night before transferring either to the airport for your onwards journey, or to the port of Piraeus for your Mediterranean cruise.

Itinerary

DAY 1: Arrive Athens, Greece

Upon arrival at Piraeus Port or Athens International Airport, you will be met by our local representative who will assist you with your transfer to your hotel in the city. After check-in, take some time to relax and settle in, ready to begin your journey through Greece.

DAY 2: Athens City Tour

After breakfast, set out on a panoramic tour of Athens, where you will discover some of the city’s most important monuments and landmarks. Highlights include the Panathenaic Stadium, Zappeion, Temple of Olympian Zeus, Hadrian’s Arch, Syntagma Square, the Hellenic Parliament, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Schliemann’s House, the Academy, University, National Library, and the Old Parliament.

You will then continue to the Acropolis to admire iconic sites such as the Propylaea, Temple of Athena Nike, the Parthenon, and the Erechtheion, before visiting the Acropolis Museum, home to treasures including the Caryatids.

In the afternoon, enjoy leisure time to stroll through the charming Plaka district and explore the historical centre at your own pace.

DAY 3: Athens ~ Corinth Canal ~ Epidaurus ~ Nafplio ~ Mycenae ~ Olympia

After breakfast, begin your three-day tour into the Peloponnese. Your first stop is the famous Corinth Canal, an impressive engineering marvel that connects the Aegean and Ionian Seas. Continue on to Epidaurus, once the most important healing centre of the ancient world, renowned today for its beautifully preserved ancient theatre with exceptional acoustics.

The journey then takes you past the charming seaport town of Nafplio before arriving at Mycenae, described by Homer as “rich in gold.” Here, you will explore the Cyclopean walls, the Lion’s Gate, and the Tomb of Agamemnon.

In the evening, you will travel to Olympia, birthplace of the Olympic Games, where you will enjoy dinner and an overnight stay.

DAY 4: Olympia ~ Delphi

This morning, you will explore Olympia, a verdant site on the banks of the River Alfios and the birthplace of the Olympic Games. Your tour will take you through the Ancient Olympia complex, where you will see the Temple of Zeus, the Palaestra, and Phidias’s Workshop. You will also visit the Archaeological Museum, home to remarkable artefacts including the celebrated statue of Hermes by Praxiteles.

In the afternoon, continue your journey north through central Greece, crossing the impressive Rio–Antirrio Bridge before arriving in Delphi for dinner and an overnight stay.

DAY 5: Delphi ~ Kalambaka

After breakfast, visit Delphi, set on the slopes of Mount Parnassus and overlooking sweeping olive groves and the Corinthian Gulf. Once considered the most sacred place in the ancient world, Delphi was a major pilgrimage centre for many centuries.

Here, you will explore the Sanctuary of Apollo, walk along the Sacred Way, and see the Temple of Apollo, where the oracle Pythia once offered her prophecies. A visit to the Archaeological Museum follows, featuring treasures such as the renowned bronze statue of the Charioteer.

In the afternoon, continue your journey across central Greece to Kalambaka, where you will enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at the foot of the Meteora rock formations.

DAY 6: Kalambaka ~ Meteora ~ Athens

This morning, you will discover Meteora, one of mainland Greece’s most stunning regions and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Here, monumental sandstone pillars rise like towers, creating a dramatic landscape that has served as a sacred refuge for monks for centuries. Perched atop these cliffs are monasteries that seem to float in the sky, offering spectacular views across the plain below.

In the afternoon, begin your drive back to Athens. Along the way, stop at the historic pass of Thermopylae to see the statue of King Leonidas, a tribute to the legendary battle of the 300 Spartans against the Persians.

DAY 7: Athens – Saronic Gulf Islands Cruise

Today, enjoy a full-day cruise as you explore the enchanting islands of the Saronic Gulf. On Hydra, experience the unique charm of this vehicle-free island with a traditional donkey ride, and take time to see the distinctive Mitropolis. In Poros, hike up to the clock tower for panoramic views of the yacht port and the Peloponnese coast.

Your next stop is Aegina, where you can enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride, sample the island’s famous pistachios, or choose an excursion to the impressive Temple of Afea. A delicious buffet lunch will be served on board, and as you sail back to Athens, unwind with some lively Greek dancing.

If minimum numbers are not met, you will be requested to change to a different date.

Some tours can be guaranteed with fewer participants; however, surcharges will apply.

If you are unable to change dates, a credit or refund will be offered in accordance with MyHoliday2’s refund policy.

 

SINGLE TRAVELLERS:

For solo travellers, a mandatory single supplement applies.

CHILDREN POLICY:

Children under 2 years old are free of charge in existing bedding.

Child discounts are only applicable if travelling with two full paying adults.

Maximum room capacity is 2 adults and 1 child. 

 

AMENDMENTS:

Any amendments are subject to the supplier’s terms and conditions.

Any changes will incur a $100 per person amendment fee PLUS any additional fees applied by the supplier.

All changes must be requested in writing.

No changes can be made within 90 days of departure. The standard cancellation policy will apply.

If unable to select new dates, a credit valid for 12 months may be offered.

 

CANCELLATION POLICY:

Cancellations are subject to MyHoliday2’s Terms and Conditions.

Refunds and credits will be offered in accordance with MyHoliday2’s Refund Policy.

 

PAYMENT PLANS:

All payment plans incur a 2% surcharge, paid with the deposit.

If the wrong plan is selected, a $25 fee will be charged to manually amend all invoices.
