Best Time To Travel –  The best time to visit Cambodia is between October and April which is typically the dry season with clear skies which makes sightseeing much more comfortable with temperatures ranging from mid-high 20’s. The wet season runs from mid May to July which can make travel in rural areas difficult although tourist areas are still accessible if not a little soggy. 

Capital City – The capital of Cambodia is Phnom Penh. The city center is about 30-40 minute drive to the airport.

Currency – The national currency in Cambodia is the Cambodian Riel. The approximate exchange is $1 = 3000 Riel. It is a good idea to take USD in cash with you as this currency can always be used in Cambodia. There are ATM’s and money exchanges in Phnom Penh and our guides are always on hand to help you exchange money while on tour in Cambodia.

Approximate Travel Time – 13 hours. There are no direct flights to Cambodia.  Most airlines fly into Phnom Penh via another hub in Asia such as Kuala Lumpur or Singapore. Our Cambodia Tours start in Phnom Penh but you can also start in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam if you are adding on an extension from your Vietnam Tour. 

Religion – Approximately 98% of  the Cambodian population follow Theravada Buddhism. Christianity and islam make up the remaining percent.

Famous Dish – A classic Khmer dish that is a must-try during your visit to Cambodia is Fish Amok. Fish Amok is a coconut based curry usually made with fish but also can be made with chicken or beef and served in a banana leaf and served with rice.  

Visa Required – Yes. You can obtain an e-visa online prior to travel which will allow you 30 days and costs approximately $35USD. You can also obtain your visas on arrival at the airport and land border crossings but make sure you have 2x passport size photos with you and the USD in cash.  We recommend organising your visa prior to traveling to Cambodia to prevent any delay at border crossings.

Fitness Level – We rate our Cambodia tours at a moderate fitness level. There is a lot of walking around monuments and sights which can be difficult on a hot day!
