SINGLE TRAVELLERS

If you are a single traveller and do not wish to pay a single supplement, the supplier may allocate you to share a twin room with another solo traveller of the same gender.

If no suitable traveller is available to match, you will not be charged a single supplement and may be allocated your own room at no additional cost. This is subject to availability and at the sole discretion of the supplier.

TOUR INFORMATION

LUGGAGE:

Soft bags are required with a maximum of 12kg per person due to limited vehicle space. Hard suitcases are not allowed. A small day pack is recommended for daily essentials. Luggage access may be limited during travel days, with main bags stored in the vehicle.

TRANSPORT:

Travel in custom built safari trucks with forward facing seats, designed for long distance touring and wildlife viewing. On some departures, air conditioned minibuses may be used. Expect long travel days on a mix of sealed and gravel roads.

ACCOMMODATION:

Stay in a mix of lodges, guest houses, chalets and permanent tented camps. Rooms are twin share with en suite facilities. Accommodation is comfortable and well located, generally 3 star standard, with some unique stays inside national parks or remote areas.

WIFI & POWER:

WiFi and mobile coverage are limited in remote areas. Power supply may be restricted and charging opportunities are not always available.

MEALS:

16 breakfasts, 12 lunches and 10 dinners are included. Meals are a combination of lodge meals and meals prepared by your guides, often enjoyed in communal settings or around a campfire. Some meals are at your own expense, allowing flexibility to dine at local restaurants. Bottled drinking water is not included. Safe drinking water is available from the vehicle supply or can be purchased locally.

PARTICIPATION:

This is an adventure style tour with limited participation required. Guests may assist with packing the vehicle, carrying luggage and light duties such as cleaning or washing up on a rotation basis.

Travel with two experienced safari guides who provide commentary, manage logistics and enhance your experience with their local knowledge.

VISAS & ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

Passports and visas are required for South Africa and eSwatini (Swaziland). It is the traveller’s responsibility to check all visa and entry requirements prior to departure.

HEALTH & FITNESS:

A moderate level of fitness is required. Expect early starts, long travel days and time spent in remote areas. Parts of the tour travel through malaria risk regions, so medical advice is recommended prior to departure.

TRAVEL INSURANCE:

Comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory and must include cover for medical expenses, evacuation and repatriation.

TIPPING:

Tipping is not included and is at your discretion. As a guideline, AUD$5 to $10 per person per day for your guide is recommended, though this is not mandatory.

OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES:

A range of optional activities are available throughout the tour at an additional cost, including ocean safaris, whale watching (seasonal), cultural experiences and adventure activities.

CURRENCY & SPENDING MONEY:

South African Rand (ZAR) is used throughout the journey. Cash is recommended for small purchases, particularly in remote areas. Credit cards are accepted in many locations but not everywhere.

Guests must follow all guide instructions at all times, particularly during wildlife activities. Travel is through remote regions where standards and service levels may differ from Australia. Flexibility and a sense of adventure are essential.
