Best Time To Travel – The best time to visit Mongolia is during the Mongolian summer; June through August. This time of  year offers travellers to Mongolia sunny days. The temperatures reach a high of a pleasant 25 degrees, while in winter they can drop to minus 40 degrees! We do not offer tours to Mongolia during winter months.

Capital City – The capital of Mongolia is Ulaanbaatar – The city has a population of around 1.3 million and is the largest city in Mongolia.   All our tours start and finish in Ulaanbaatar as the political, commercial, industrial and cultural hub.

Currency – The national currency in Mongolia is the Mongolian tögrög. The approximate exchange is $1 = 2000 Tughrik. It is recommended that you carry some US dollars and a credit card for tours in Mongolia.

Approximate Travel Time – The average travel time from Australia to Ulanbataar is 19 hours with a stop over via Hong Kong, China or Singapore.

Religion – 53% of people living in Mongolia are practicing buddhists while 27% are atheists.

Famous Dish – Buuz is the national dish of Mongolia – there are many different varieties available, but essentially Buuz is a steamed meat/mutton dumpling.

Visa Required – Yes. Australian citizens must apply for a tourist visa prior to visiting Mongolia

Fitness Level – We recommend a moderate level of fitness for travel to Mongolia as many sights require walking and full mobility. You will be sitting in a 4×4 for long periods of time so please keep this in mind when planning your trip to Mongolia.
