DAY 1: Depart Australia

Today you will depart for your flight to Cairo, Egypt from either Sydney, Melbourne, *Brisbane or *Perth. Note: Some flights may depart on Day 0 or Day 2.

DAY 2: Arrive Cairo, Egypt

Upon arrival to Cairo, you will be met by a representative at the airport and transferred to the hotel.

DAY 3: Great Pyramids, Sphinx Memphis & Sakkara

Breakfast in Hotel. Then start the tour by visit the Incredible Pyramids and Sphinx at Giza Plateau. It’s estimated the largest – Khufu (Cheops) was constructed from no less than 2.5 million quarried limestone blocks, weighing around 6 million tonnes. No mean feats, when you consider the pyramids were built without the use of modern equipment. Visit papyrus institute, free time for shopping. of this tour is the collection of treasures from the tomb of Tut-Ankh-Amon. Next we visit Sakkara. Sakkara is truly an open-air museum, one that has all of ancient Egyptian history on display. Kings and noblemen from the very first two dynasties (c.3040–2686 BC) were buried here, and this is also the location of the Step Pyramid of Djoser (c.2686–2667 BC). Visit Memphis. Transfer to hotel and overnight.

DAY 4: Egyptian Museum & Old Cairo and Khan Khalili

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before a pick up to visit the Egyptian Museum, the largest repository of Egyptian antiquities in the world. Tour the galleries of the Old and New Kingdoms, the Ptolemaic era and the Greek/Roman periods. Pick up to visit St George Church, it dates back to the 7th or 8th century, St. George church is the only round shape church in Egypt unlike other churches in Egypt as it was built on top the foundations of a Roman round tower. Visit Khan Khalili market. Return to your hotel for overnight.

DAY 5: Cairo ~ Luxor ~ Visit Luxor and Karnak Temples

Breakfast and check out. Transfer to Cairo airport. Fly to Luxor. Arrival Luxor and pick-up to visit Luxor temple Luxor temple is dedicated to the rejuvenation of kingship; it may have been where many of the pharaohs of Egypt were crowned in reality or conceptually (as in the case of Alexander the Great, who claimed he was crowned at Luxor but may never have traveled south of Memphis, near modern Cairo). Visit Karnak temple. Karnak Temple was the most important temple in Thebes (modern Luxor), in Upper Egypt. This was where the cult of the great god Amun of Thebes was conducted. As such, it was extremely wealthy and its priesthood held great political power. Transfer to your hotel. Check in and overnight.

DAY 6: West Bank ~ Valley of the Kings ~ Hatchepsut Temple

Breakfast and check out. Pick up to visit Valley of the Kings The site for this royal burial ground was selected carefully. Its location on specifically the west side of the Nile is significant as well. Because the sun god set (died) in the western horizon in order to be reborn, rejuvenated, in the eastern horizon, the west thus came to have funerary associations. Ancient Egyptian cemeteries were generally situated on the west bank of the Nile for this reason. Visit The celebrated temple of Hatshepsut (c.1473–1458 BC), the queen who became Pharaoh, is located here, in Deir al-Bahari, on the west bank of Luxor. Made up of three man-made terraces that gradually rise up toward the sheer cliff face, this structure is truly a sight to behold. The site of Deir al-Bahari was sacred to Hathor, the goddess who nursed and reared every king, including their mythological ancestor, the god Horus, in Egypt’s primordial past. Transfer to hotel and overnight.

DAY 7: Board Luxury Dahabiya Cruise ~ El Kab ~ Quessia

Breakfast and check out. At 9 am, you’ll be met by our representative. Private transfer from any address in Luxor to Esna (50 km south of Luxor) where the crew of the Dahabiya will take you to board the boat. A visit to the Esna temple and a short walk through the local markets. Your Nile adventure starts by sailing towards El Kab, the ancient city of Nekheb, where you can see the remains of the temples and the tombs. The sailors sets sail for a small island where the boat will moor for the night. Enjoy your dinner on the sundeck or the banks of the river Nile. First night on board.

DAY 8: Edfu ~ Wadi el Shat

Sail to Edfu, the scenery is stunning changing from golden sand of the desert to lush and green forests of date palms – scenes unchanged in centuries. Visit the beautifully preserved temple of Horus, dedicated to the falcon-headed god Horus, which is in a state of excellent preservation and once huge ceremonies were held here with live falcons in honour of Horus. Continue sailing to Wadi el Shat for a walk through small villages and the desert. Set sail for a small island where the boat will moor for the night. Dinner will be served on board the Dahabiya or on the tranquil banks of the Nile. Second night on board.

DAY 9: Gebel el Silsila ~ Kom Ombo ~ Maniha

Relax in a deck chair and watch the riverside pass by while the crew sails to Gebel El Silsila. You can explore the rock-cut chapels of Seti I, Ramesses II, Merenptah and Horemheb and also remnants of the monuments in the old sandstone quarries. During lunch on the sun deck the Dahabiya sails towards Kom Ombo, where you go ashore to see the double temple of Sobek and Haroeris. Dinner will be served around a campfire along the Nile. Third night on board.

DAY 10: Daraw ~ El Koubania ~ Aswan

The captain sets sail for the village of Daraw, once the last stop for camel traders from Sudan after a forty days long journey through the Libyan desert . After a walk through the village and camel market the boat sails further towards Koubania; a Nubian village near Aswan, with lovely gardens filled with citrus and mango trees. Fourth and last night on board.

DAY 11: Aswan

Breakfast and disembarkation. Pick-up to Visit High Dam. Visit Philae temple The temple of Isis was one of the last ancient Egyptian temples to remain active, as it continued to function until the reign of the Byzantine Emperor Justinian I (527–565 AD), who ordered the foreclosure of all pagan temples. It is here that a priest of Isis named Esmet-Akhom carved the very last dated hieroglyphic inscription, which dates to the late 4th century AD (394 AD). The temple was converted into a Christian church and many inscriptions were deliberately destroyed. Transfer to hotel for check-in and refreshment. Pick-up for Felucca trip with wonder overlooking Aswan and see the sunset. Back to hotel and overnight.

DAY 12: Aswan ~ Abu Simbel ~ Aswan

Early start this morning as we drive to Abu Simbel temple. You will be given a breakfast box for the early morning drive. The Great Temple of Abu Simbel, in Nubia near Egypt’s southern border, is among the most awe-inspiring monuments of Egypt. It was cut into the living rock by King Ramesses II (the Great) of the Nineteenth Dynasty, around 1264 BC. The temple is most well known for the four imposing seated colossal statues that dominate its façade. One of these collapsed because of an ancient earthquake, and its fragments can still be seen on the ground. Drive back to Aswan. Transfer to hotel and overnight. Today is a long drive to the temple with approximately 3 hours each way.

DAY 13: Aswan ~ Cairo

After breakfast and check out you will be transferred to the airport for a short flight back to Cairo. Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel for your final night. Today there is the possibility to visit Citadel of Salah El Din & Mohamed Ali Mosque and Civilization Museum if time permits. There will be an additional charge for this excursion.

After breakfast and check out you will be transferred back to the airport for your return flights home.
